So this may be confusing so please ask questions. We are a Mechanical contractor. We are currently working for a GC on a Federal Government job. This job requires a Pay App to be singed by a notary and a Wage Statement (Not a Federal Govnernment form) from my employees stating they were paid. My dilemma I am having is I send the Pay App with my signature notarized by someone else. The Wage Statement for my employees I notarize. As it is easier for my employees to come to me. I asked my lawyer if this was an issue and he did not see how it was as the Pay App, required by the Federal Govrernment, is signed by a differente notary. Does anyone else see how this is a conflict of interest or illegal as this GC is stating it is. Now mind you they owe us a significant amount of money and keep coming at me with different issues so they do not have to pay.. I have been signing these wage statements since November. I personally do not see an issue with doing this as the pay app I sign and get notarized is technically what pays me. I really need some help in determining. Please help.. :(
